Fashion Weekend and New Stores at Lake Square Mall

Shopping at Lake Square Mall

Earlier this month, Bella Faire presented the Fashion Designer Showcase and Competition at the newly revived Lake Square Mall, a weekend of fashion and fun that celebrated local creativity and the mall’s continued transformation. On Saturday, April 7, young, promising designers off their eco-friendly designs followed by a runway, showcase, and a VIP soiree. The event, titled “The Art of Fashion,” was held as a fundraiser in support of the Leesburg Art Center and VMAX “For One Community” 501C organizations.

Big things have been happening at Lake Square Mall since its recent acquisition by new owners, the accomplished real estate firm operated by Mr. Benzaken. The mall, which originally opened in 1980, had previously been facing years of struggle as multiple owners, store closings, and financial struggles plagued the property. But with new owners has come new life, and the fashion weekend is just one of many exciting things to come to the improved space.

It was so heartwarming to see the community, the city, new and current businesses, get together to celebrate a new exciting chapter in this region and our local mall.

This month also marks the opening of several new stores at Lake Square Mall: Yvonne Marie, a designer-owned unique retail boutique, Lucky 7, a young and exciting fashion destination, Pajar, the high-quality footwear and coat manufacturer, and Georges Marciano, the founder of GUESS, with his new Ranch Collection. The retail establishments join other longstanding stores at the mall, including Belk, Kay Jewelers, Bath & Body Works, Payless, and many more.

The revival of Lake Square Mall is part of Mr. Benzaken’s larger goal to reposition struggling properties, bringing commercial and residential opportunities to communities in the South Florida area. New stores and events will help bring together community members and return Lake Square Mall to what it once was: a place where people could gather to shop, eat, and enjoy being together. In addition to “The Art of Fashion,” the mall will also be hosting another philanthropic event in April, in conjunction with the second-largest BikeFest in the country.

Improvements to the mall extend beyond new stores. The new owners will shortly be making a $3 to $5 million worth of infrastructure enhancements, which include a new covered walkway and new entryway facades. Leesburg City commissioners are fully on board with the mall’s improvements, and they recently approved a partnership program.

Come personally experience this new buzz in Lake County by coming out to visit and enjoying the new shops and events being offered. There’s something for everybody, with more on the way.
