Excel Village and Crown Jewels (NC) Links Collaborate to Award Scholarships

Excel Village Center for Learning announced that a one-time scholarship ($1,000-$5,000) will be awarded to encourage African American females to pursue an undergraduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Finance, Arts and/or Business (STEM-FAB©). The scholarship will be disbursed in the Fall semester of the upcoming academic year.

A collaboration between Excel Village Center for Learning and Crown Jewels (NC) Links organizations, applicants must meet certain criteria to be considered for the Excel Village STEM-FAB© HBCU Scholarship.

The scholarship applications are available on both organizations' websites until March 15, 2020. The selected scholar(s) will also be awarded a $200 scholarship to attend the Annual Excel Village STEM-FAB© Girl’s Power Summit sponsored by Ally Financial and Macy’s. The Summit will be held on April 25 at the UNC Charlotte Uptown Campus. Fifty (50) Carolina girls in grades 5-12 will attend the Excel Village Girls STEM-FAB© Power Summit, including the recipient of Excel Village STEM-FAB© HBCU Scholarship.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with the Crown Jewels (NC) Links to continue our mission of creating winning futures for girls in grades 5th-12th. This scholarship is a continuation of paving a pathway for the next generation of female leaders,” said Dr. Lisa J. Lindsay Wicker, Excel Village founder, and Board Chair.

“The Crown Jewels (NC) Chapter of The Links continues to focus on ways to create strategic partnerships in the local community to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). "As a leading women’s organization, we are thrilled to invest in our first HBCU scholarship for young women who aspire to work in the field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, with the EXCEL Village STEM FAB© program," says Sharon Matthews, president of the Crown Jewels Links.
