Engineering for Kids Announces Summer Camps for Kids 4-14 in Chandler
Online, May 21, 2014 (Newswire.com) - East Valley Engineering for Kids, a STEM enrichment provider for kids 4-14, will be offering weekly summer camps from Monday - Friday beginning June 2nd at the new Primavera Blending Learning Center at 2451 North Arizona Avenue in Chandler. Camps include "The Engineering of Pirates," Video Game Design and Robotics and are geared towards introducing children to the concepts of engineering in a fun-filled, hands-on, program.
According to Engineering for Kids Director, Ron Hoagland, "We are excited to offer our classes at this beautiful, brand new, facility. Kids are natural engineers and have a great curiosity about how things work. Our goal is to introduce concepts to children that will spark a passion for engineering, math and science." For more information, interested parties can contact Hoagland at (480) 779-8184, visit www.EngineeringForKids.com/EastValley or email EastValley@EngineeringforKids.Net.
Full and half day camps are enrolling now for boys and girls ages 4-14 and extended care is available. Discounts are available for the weeks of 6/2 and 6/9.
All camps are theme based to encourage creativity and critical thinking skills. Topics for the Video Design camps include "Knights vs. Dragons" and "Alien Invasion." Robotics camps based on age and skill level include "Jr. Lego Robotics: Amazing Mechanisms" and EV3 Robotics "Ocean Missions."
Engineering for Kids was founded in 2009 by educator Dori Roberts who saw a dire need to introduce the concepts of math, science and engineering to children. They now have programs in 26 states and 4 countries
Hoagland says, "Unfortunately, Arizona has some of the lowest Math and Science scores in the country. These classes introduce kids to critical thinking skills, teamwork and creativity."
"We want our programs to make kids enthusiastic about these subjects and really enjoy themselves. Learning can be fun."
