Older adults, families and caregivers will be able to speak to local experts and learn about the latest area resources at the 2015 Senior & Family Conference on Saturday, November 7, from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, at the Pecos Community Center in Phoenix.  The event is free to the public.

The theme for the Senior Advocacy Group of Ahwatukee (SAGA) event is “Aging isn’t for Sissies: Straight Talk and Connections” and will feature educational sessions on issues related to older adults and caregiving, vendor exhibits, a continental breakfast and catered lunch, giveaways and raffle prizes.

The Senior Advocacy Group of Ahwatukee provides resources, education, and advocacy for the senior population and their caregivers.

Annlouise Ferguson, SAGA Board Member

The 2015 conference is part of an annual series by the local nonprofit.  SAGA was organized to provide resources, education and advocacy for seniors, caregivers, and the adult children of the senior population of Ahwatukee and its surrounding areas.

The City of Phoenix and the Pecos Community Center will also be hosting a classroom at the event for senior attendees that will facilitate interactive discussions on topics related to aging.

According to SAGA Board Member, Annlouise Ferguson, “There has been a 45% increase in the number of seniors living in the Ahwatukee area since 2000.  Many adult sons and daughters are now caring for their parents, their own families, and even their grandchildren. This event will give attendees real answers on available resources and new ways to care for the senior in their life and even themselves. There is help.”
