As part of its global mandate to promote women’s leadership, 5th Element Group India sponsored the Indian Leadership Conclave from February 16-17, 2019, at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in New Delhi. The event is one of three global, sanctioned “Decade Of Women Summits” in 2019, as part of the movement that was launched at the United Nations on International Women’s Day last March.

Hosted by India Needs You (INY), distinguished and rising leaders in the fields of politics, academia, and business convened to celebrate the developing culture of social impact being fostered by Indian corporations. The Conclave envisioned further empowerment of women through existing social impact business strategies, including new approaches to the recent mandate on Indian companies to give 2% of profits to charity.

“Reflective of our mandate to promote women in leadership, we will equip more than 250 selected Indian women entrepreneurs this year with a leadership toolkit,” said Pratik Gauri, 5th Element Group India President. “The support from politicians, female executives and other recognized CEO-level leaders has been fantastic. We are the first player in India to introduce omniwin "Good Exchange" solutions and the Conclave marks the beginning of our efforts to unlock significant funding from brand marketing budgets towards social causes that will help lift millions of Indians.”

Multi-dimensional dialogues during the event focused on further motivating leaders to pursue solutions to today’s most pressing global challenges. Those solutions will promote the importance of the rise of women’s leadership in order to advance the core elements of a flourishing society.

“Conclaves like these give me a belief that problems of unemployment, gender inequity, and lack of education will be solved pretty quickly in India,” said Shri Thokchom Radheshyam, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Labour and Unemployment for the Government of Manipur.

The Indian Leadership Conclave is part of 5th Element Group’s ongoing support of the Decade Of Women movement. 5th Element, Decade Of Women and INY awarded two women with the Women of Change Award for contributions towards advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goal #5, which focuses on gender equality issues.

“The union of four forces at the Conclave – the government, finance, technology, and business sectors, will surely trigger new opportunities for more effective collaborations,” said Meena Narula, a Conclave Women of Change awardee and India Country Director for Water for People. “The Conclave brought us together to learn and to inspire and to renew our commitment to contribute to a pluralistic, diverse and inclusive world.”

“This gathering and the movement it represents is important and inspiring, for people here in India and all around the world who are working towards the emergence of women into governance and economic stakeholder roles,” said Kavita Gupta, Founding Managing Partner of the prominent US-based ConsenSys Ventures. Gupta will also receive a Women of Change Award at the Conclave.

A Women of Change Global Coin was unveiled at the Conclave as well, the first of an ongoing, worldwide collection to benefit women and girls initiatives globally and in each host country. The pure silver coin features an image of Lakshmibai, Rani (Queen) of Jhansi, and features a laser-etched digital key for a currency wallet to help introduce women and girls to the digital assets economy. 100% of all proceeds go to organizations helping women and girls, with impact tracked on the Blockchain.
