During Jim DeFede Debate, Debbie Wasserman Schultz Was Asked About Her Supervision of DNC and How They Treated Bernie Sanders, His Jewish Faith and Ethnicity

In a recent debate with Tim Canova, Debbie Wasserman Schultz was asked about emails in regards to Bernie Sanders' Jewish faith and ethnicity and if they were used as negatives to influence Kentucky and West Virginia voters. These topics have become some concerns for Jewish voters in FL District 23.

As former DNC chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz debated on the CBS Jim DeFede show last Sunday 8/14/16, the question arose as to whether she allowed employees to work against Bernie Sanders and his ethnicity. In one particular email from DNC CFO Brad Marshall, there seemed to be a strategy to use Sanders’ Jewishness and his alleged atheism against him in states with plenty of religious Christian voters such as Kentucky and West Virginia.

“It might may no difference [sic], but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief,” Marshall wrote. “Does he believe in a God.(?) He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist.”

This may not be a classic case of Antisemitism, but it does appear to some Jewish voters to still be discrimination of a sort and plays into fears of religious minority labels. It also implies that there is only one way to be a Jew — and that if someone doesn’t have a certain ideology or level of religious observance, then they aren’t really considered Jewish.

Marshall could have been playing into some Americans’ fear of atheists and how atheism is on the same level as socialism, which is not necessarily the case. There are certainly plenty of religious socialists in the country. The single standard being defined for what counts as a Jew harms both non-religious cultural Jews, as well as groups who don’t conform to what gentiles often think a Jew looks like. Others claim that this is the pattern of Debbie Wasserman Schultz, claiming that Debbie has been known to play into voters' fears also. For example, they allege that she likes to scare Seniors that their social security will be taken away or benefits reduced when the opposing political party representatives hint at reform to the program being in the red. The term for someone who tries to instill fear among people they are leading and who keeps using fearful statements to keep power is the term "demagogue".

When Jim DeFede, the moderator of the debate on CBS last Sunday, brought up the email about Sanders' Jewish identity to Debbie, she insisted that she "absolutely condemned the exchange". But the following question still lingered to what kind of culture Debbie Wasserman Schultz created at the DNC since she was the leader there.

Also during the debate with Tim Canova her challenger for District 23, Debbie accidentally admitted that she was instrumental in helping Hillary Clinton get nominated, perhaps because she couldn't resist the temptation to take credit for her influence on the Democratic Party presidential candidate primary process?

“The work we did to prepare for Hillary Clinton, to be our nominee and then make sure that we could get her elected president, is absolutely critical to advancing the issues that are important,” she said.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz also admitted in the debate to proudly supporting Obama’s new Iran nuke deal, which could put Israel at risk as Iran tries earnestly to become a nuclear power. Iran has long been the nemesis of Israel, and Iranians are frequently led in stadium size crowds to chant against Israel. Every year, crowds will yell slogans such as "Death to Israel and America", usually after speeches by a Muslim cleric or the Ayatollah blaming Israel for their plight. As part of this 1.7 billion Obama deal with Iran,  $400 million was recently delivered to Iran via cargo plane. Some news reports have recently reported that the $400 million was also used as negotiation to free American prisoners, referred to as "hostages". Iran also has been the biggest supporter of Hezbollah and Hamas, which Iran has used as proxies against Israel to stir up strife and lack of safety for Israeli citizens. When Jim DeFede prodded Debbie to guarantee that some of the $1.7 billion dollars of the Obama Iran nuke deal would not be used for terror against Israeli citizens, Debbie replied "You can never guarantee anything Jim."

However, during the same debate, Debbie boasted that Iran has been fully compliant with Obama's new nuke agreement. Is this the same kind of confidence she had that the DNC email system and private information was secure for several years under her tenure? Leaders are expected to have foresight and discernment over the safety of the public or the safety of institutions.

After the DNC leaks, Wasserman Schultz was forced to resign as DNC chair, but she is running for re-election in Florida’s District 23. She was also hired by Hillary Clinton immediately after her forced resignation, perhaps as payback for her allegiance and loyalty to Hillary over Bernie Sanders? Debbie has not faced a primary challenge for the Democratic nomination in over 10 years, but she is now in competition for the office with Tim Canova, Florida attorney and professor from NOVA University. Tim Canova has similar beliefs to Bernie Sanders. To many, Debbie represents an establishment who feels entitled to her District 23 U.S. House seat, which has the attitude that rigged the Democrat nomination for Hillary Clinton because many thought she was entitled to the Presidency. As a matter of security and leadership, how can Debbie be trusted to lead FL District 23, when she was leading the DNC at the same time a "Watergate" epic hacking occurred of everyone's emails who worked there? Debbie during the Jim DeFede debate just blamed the Russians for hacking the emails, without giving any evidence. Others have noted how Debbie usually speaks with such confidence among t.v. shows but has a hard time providing evidence for her claims. Is she jumping to the conclusion that it was the Russians hacking the emails, just like she is jumping to the conclusion that Iran is compliant on Obama's nuke deal? Why should Democrats even trust her enough to vote for her in the August 30 primary when some allege that she sabotaged the nomination process against Bernie Sanders?
