Designer Andrew Jang of Adriaen Black to Design Custom College Interview Outfits for Bronx Students

NBA Players' Custom Suit Designer Andrew Jang Announces the Next Big Donation from 'Made to Measure, Made to Love'

Fashion designer Andrew Jang, founder of the Manhattan-based private-label clothing brand Adriaen Black, plans to donate custom-tailored and designed college and job interview attire for students at PS 154 in Bronx, New York. This is the second large gesture to come from Andrew Jang’s “Made to Measure, Made to Love” program, which aims to bolster the confidence, happiness and self-expression of underserved students in New York, and eventually, throughout the country.

Late last year, Andrew Jang personally invested $440,000 toward the creation of 370 custom coats for students in the Bronx. Normally accustomed to measuring top NBA players, the Adriaen Black designer spent two full days gathering the measurements of more than 300 teenagers. A few weeks later, he presented them each with their own custom-made coat, valued at more than $2,000 apiece.

We are still in the beginning stages of organizing, but my hope is to allot the time and money needed to meet with each student, discuss their prospects, their personal style, take their measurements and return with a stellar outfit that will fill them with all the confidence they need to nail their interviews.

“It was such a great experience to gift these students custom coats; I am very much looking forward to doing more in the near future,” says Jang. “Most of these students are used to receiving only secondhand items — growing up poor, I know what it is like to rarely have anything new, let alone custom-made. Fresh clothing can do a lot for a young person’s self-esteem and luckily, I am now in a position where I can do something to help.”

This year, Andrew Jang is in talks with several more schools and organizations. First on the list of 2018’s “Made to Measure, Made to Love” initiatives: create high-end custom outfits that high school students can wear to upcoming job and college interviews.

“We are still in the beginning stages of organizing, but my hope is to allot the time and money needed to meet with each student, discuss their prospects, their personal style, take their measurements and return with a stellar outfit that will fill them with all the confidence they need to nail their interviews,” says Jang.

Already, buzz of Andrew Jang’s “Made to Measure, Made to Love” donations have attracted the attention of several of his high-profile clients, who have expressed interest in getting involved.
