Decorate a Vet Kicks Off the Holidays by Transforming Five Northern Virginia Veterans' Homes in One Day
FALLS CHURCH, Va., December 1, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Press are invited to attend the kick off of Decorate a Vet’s 8th annual transformation of veterans’ homes for the holidays. Please join us Saturday, Dec. 2 beginning at 8 a.m. at the American Legion 130, 400 North Oak Street, Falls Church, Virginia for registration and marching orders.
The mission: Today, many of our armed forces veterans are unable to take care of basic household and exterior chores. We provide help cleaning gutters, clearing brush, trimming tree limbs and maintaining sidewalks and landscapes. Other projects range from simple electrical work to the installation of wheelchair ramps and handrails to increase access and safety around the house. Our goal is to demonstrate appreciation for their service and to show some seasonal and community spirit by decorating for the holidays (and returning to take it all down). This brings folks of all ages together in a collective show of support and togetherness.
We're proud to be the channel for caring citizens to provide home repair services and holiday cheer to America's finest men and women who've given so much in defense of our great nation.

Decorate A Vet is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), dedicated to assisting local Northern Virginia veterans in making repairs and increasing accessibility as well as beautifying their yards and decorating them for holidays. Local businessman Jeff Jones of Classic StoneScaping & Gardens, LLC started with the idea of showing his appreciation to local veterans for their service. He shared his vision with a few business owners and harnessing the power of social media, Decorate A Vet was formed in less than thirty days. Decorate A Vet forged a relationship with local American Legion Post 130 to identify vets in need of assistance, and eight years later, we are still working together raising more money – all of which goes to the charity – and are decorating five houses this Dec. 2.
