Dataspeed Inc. Holds Graphic Design Contest for Self-Driving Vehicles Being Demonstrated at the 2020 North American International Auto Show
Michigan artists encouraged to submit graphic designs for Dataspeed-engineered autonomous shuttles for a chance at $500 and widespread media exposure.
DETROIT, March 2, 2020 (Newswire.com) - Dataspeed Inc., a leading autonomous vehicle engineering provider, in partnership with AM General, Comet Mobility, Easterseals, and Michigan State University, is accepting vehicle wrap graphic design submissions for their three autonomous shuttles being developed for the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2020 Michigan Mobility Challenge. The designers of the selected submissions will not only have the chance for their artwork to be showcased to high-profile media individuals but will also receive a $500 award.
The design competition starts today, with graphic artists and illustrators vying for the opportunity to design the official vehicle wrap of the Dataspeed team’s autonomous shuttles. The autonomous vehicles, which the team is engineering on the AM General MV-1 wheelchair accessible platform, are transporting select event attendees from the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) to downtown Detroit during the NAIAS media days that take place June 8 through June 11 2020. Each shuttle will be equipped with industry-leading vehicle software and sensors including several forms of LiDAR, RADAR, camera, and GPS.
“This graphic design competition is an opportunity to incorporate even more stellar Michigan talent within the project,” said Greg Fleck, COO of Dataspeed. “These shuttles are aimed to build public confidence and understanding of autonomous technology, and this contest further extends public involvement by allowing local artists to help decide what they look like.”
Entrants must primarily reside in the state of Michigan or currently attend a Michigan educational institution and adhere to the contest’s full rules and regulations, such as the inclusion of the Dataspeed-led team logos. Artists are encouraged to incorporate Michigan references and technology suggestions to best represent the great step Michigan is taking in transforming the mobility industry. Submissions are accepted until March 31, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
