Dallas City Access Builds on Commitment to Giving

The President of Dallas City Access highlighted the firm's recent giveback endeavor with a great local nonprofit. He also shared his best tips for incorporating giving into a company culture.

Supporting good causes in the community is a cornerstone of the Dallas City Access culture. Jon, the firm’s President, explained, “We frequently organize giveback events for our team members so they can build stronger bonds as they make a positive impact. This month we’re supporting the Genesis Women’s Shelter, which provides safe housing and support for women who have experienced domestic violence. The shelter also works to raise awareness of domestic violence through various outreach efforts.”

The Genesis Women’s Shelter’s mission is to change the way people think about domestic violence. Jon added, “The main idea is to let abused women and families know that help and hope are available to them. Each year, the organization sees about 1,200 women and children in its emergency shelter, long-term housing, and counseling office. We’re honored to do whatever we can to support the Genesis mission.”

Jon has been looking to get involved with a local program dedicated to helping victims of abuse. He commented, “I admire the work Genesis does for women and children in our community. It is my hope that Dallas City Access will continue working as an ally for the organization for many years.”

Dallas City Access’ President Offers Tips for Creating a Culture of Giving

There are so many benefits that come with giving back to the community as a team. Stronger morale and greater team engagement are two of the most impactful. Jon remarked, “With these kinds of benefits in mind, it’s easy to see why a company would want to forge a strong commitment to community involvement. I think the first step has to be to understand what types of causes ignite the passions of your people. Polling team members is a good place to start. From there, you can begin identifying nonprofits in your area that align with your team’s values.”

It’s also important to have clear plans in place when any giveback endeavor is being planned. The President commented, “Just as with any big Dallas City Access objective, we set specific targets for our philanthropic measures. In our experience, being able to evaluate progress toward giving goals provides extra motivation to keep making positive impacts. For every major giving objective we reach, we get inspired to aim higher the next time.”
