Consumers Energy Named 2017 Career Mastered "Company of the Year"

History will be made on March 1, 2017, when Consumers Energy becomes the first business to be named Company of the Year at the Michigan Career Mastered Women’s History Leadership in Action Awards event in Dearborn.

This special award is being presented during Women’s History Month because Consumers Energy has:

  • A female CEO and five other female officers
  • Board of Directors that is one-third female
  • Been proven to lead by example
  • Been proven to embrace diversity & inclusion

“We are committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the Michigan communities we serve,” said Cathy Hendrian, Consumers Energy’s vice president of human resources. “We have a deep bench of women doing critical work throughout our company, which continues to create leadership opportunities.”

In contrast, a third of Michigan's top 100 public companies have no women among their executive officers, board directors or top earners, according to the 2015 Michigan Women's Leadership Report. And just 17 have at least one female director, officer and top-compensated officer.

“Today’s women leaders are Game Changers. They take charge of their careers and take charge of their futures,” says Dr. Lisa Lindsay Wicker, founder of the Career Mastered Women’s Global Business Collaborative and Women’s History Month Leadership in Action Awards. The event will also honor 30 iconic women from Michigan. Proceeds directly support Excel Village Center for Learning, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide career planning for youth at the elementary, junior high and high school levels.

The full day event takes place March 1, 2017, at The Henry - Autograph Collection, Dearborn, MI. Tickets are available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/career-mastered-2017-womens-history-month-leadership-in-action-awards-detroit-tickets-28270387490
