College Admissions Assistance Awards First Round of 2017 Scholarships

Norrell Thomas

College Admissions Assistance (CAA) is proud to announce our student survey scholarship contest winners, Norrel Thomas and Hoa Luu.

Norrell Thomas is the third prize winner of our scholarship contest for $1,000 to use towards his first year at University of Central Florida where he will be studying mechanical engineering. He said that he would not have been able to make it this far on his own. Norrel has had an interest in the STEM field for a long time. He works on designing and loves to draw out ideas for inventions. He was even part of a special program at NASA called HUNCH where he used problem-solving skills to work out issues associated with space exploration. Norrel appreciates CAA for help with his SAT preparation. He was able to raise his score several points by being dedicated to preparing for the test. CAA was able to help with essays and review his college application. He would advise younger CAA students to make sure they complete the FAFSA on time and be active in their school.

Hou Luu is the fourth prize winner of our scholarship contest for $500 to use towards his first year at University of Houston where he will be studying to become a pharmacist. In high school, Hoa was involved in National Honor Society and the National English Society. He will be the first in his family to attend college. He even was able to finish high school through a special program where he earned his associate’s degree. Hoa credits CAA for helping to organize his focus in the college admissions process. He found the checklist very helpful for him to make sure he was on track. He also enjoyed using the career resources to learn more about himself and confirm his career choice. Hoa appreciated the help of CAA to review one of his scholarship essays as well.

Congrats to Norrel and Hoa for being the third and fourth place scholarship winner.  We know that they both will be extremely successful in their next steps!

CAA is a private educational-service organization that provides expert college planning help to students and families nationwide. These services would be out of reach for many families, but we have successfully combined technology, a caring team of highly trained college coaches, and years of experience into a program that’s affordable to families in need of our assistance.
