Chang Beer Announces Partnership With Los Angeles Restaurant E.P. & L.P. and Chef Louis Tikaram to Celebrate the Brand's Venture Into the Thai Culinary Space

The acclaimed chef is teaming up with Thailand's favorite beer for a culinary journey from America to Thailand and back

Chang Beer, Thailand’s leading beer brand, announces a partnership with renowned chef, Executive Chef Louis Tikaram (Chef Louis) of the E.P. & L.P. restaurant in Los Angeles. With this, we aim to deliver a summer full of mouthwatering activities leading to the third annual Chang Sensory Trails (CST) on June 16th. He will also serve as Chang’s Ambassador chef, which will take fans on his culinary journey through the LA and Bangkok food scene.

Chang Beer and Chef Louis will be embarking on a series of events that showcase the chef’s talents and the richness and complexity of Thai cuisine, which is rooted in Chang’s embodiment of the Thai philosophy of Lamiat. This philosophy inspires us to pay attention to the details and look beyond the ordinary, as it is underpinned by a deep and authentic appreciation that it is the small things that refines and produces perfection. It is this authentic pursuit for perfection that we constantly live by.

Lamiat reverberates in everything that Chef Louis does in the kitchen, too. Through this initiative, Chef Louis will show fans his Lamiat story as well as Chang Beer’s position on the Thai culinary space. He will take a broader stance by celebrating a common appreciation for food, art and music to create connections and kinships through his own journey that fans will be able to follow along via @ChangBeerUSA on Instagram.

Through this partnership, fans will really get to the attention to detail that Chef Louis embodies in creating each perfect dish. From curating the right ingredients to carefully presenting the food for each guest, Chef Louis’ cooks using his Lamiat as his guiding principle, in very much the same way that Chang Beer brews its beer.

"I’m very excited about this partnership with Chang Beer. It has been one of my favorite beers, even when I was living in Australia, and their brand philosophy of Lamiat is exactly aligned with how I think and prepare my own recipes,” Chef Louis Tikaram said. “The endless complexity of Thai food inspires my culinary journey. It fuels my passion for cooking cultural dishes like my all-time favorite, turmeric and coconut curry. Through this partnership, fans will really get to know how I think and create my dishes.”

Australian-born, Chef Louis developed his passion for food as a child from his Fijian-Chinese grandmother, Collette. The passion and adoration for Thai culture grew while living in Fiji as a pre-teen. Chef Louis trained in one of Sydney’s most prestigious restaurants and refined his craft by cooking in kitchens from Barcelona to New York. His talents earned him a “Young Chef of the Year” award in 2014. He is the executive chef at one of LA’s hottest dining spots E.P. & L.P., where he incorporates Southern California’s fresh produce into dishes inspired by his unique cultural heritage. His love for Thai culture and cuisine is very evident in the ambiance created at E.P. & L.P.

Chef Louis is the perfect ambassador for this celebration of food, beer, culture and connections.

About Chang Beer

Chang Beer was first introduced in Thailand in 1995, and within three years it had already captured more than 50 percent of the Thai market share. Chang Beer is a well-balanced and full-bodied lager with a complex aroma and a crisp, smooth and incredibly refreshing taste. Chang uses deep-well water to achieve the perfect mineral composition to brew its lager — the water is so pure that it is also bottled and sold in Thailand as mineral water. Chang is synonymous with the taste of Thailand for many of its international fans.

About E.P. & L.P.

E.P. is an Asian Eating House without regional boundaries.

With solid roots in Thai cuisine, E.P. combines overtones of Chinese, Fijian & Vietnamese influences, blending them with the freshest Californian produce to create an offering unlike any other. Our menu is designed to be shared family style.

With spectacular views of the Hollywood Hills and the Sunset Strip, L.P. is one of the largest format roof decks in LA.

Serving Asian inspired street food and hand-crafted cocktails, the L.P. rooftop is open daily until 2 a.m. It’s a place where our LA friends and family can enjoy a sunset, a pre-dinner drink or have a late night snack and glass of wine around our firepit after a long day at work. We don’t take dining reservations for the rooftop- it’s a first come first served space so come on in and we’ll look after you. There’s also a secret food menu item for those looking to add some spice to their life!
