Captain Memo's Pirate Cruise Named Finalist for Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Small Business Award

Captain Memo's Pirate Cruise has been selected as a finalist for the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce 2016 Small Business Award. After receiving the Bright House Regional Business award earlier in the year, Captain Memo's Pirate Cruise has once again been recognized as an outstanding local business for the Tampa Bay region.

2016 has been a year overflowing with recognition for Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise as they have now been named a finalist for their second Tampa area business award in the past six months. Coming on the heels of their Bright House Networks Regional Business Award announced in February, Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise was selected as a finalist for the Greater Tampa Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the year. Serving as the cornerstone of Clearwater Beach’s family friendly atmosphere, the bright red pirate ship remains a source of wonder for tourists and one of pride for locals. Captain Memo’s has brought the legend and lore of pirates to life on Clearwater Beach for the past 38 years, all the time still occupying the same marina slip they had when they first sailed into town on six passenger personal sailboat.

For owner Pam Wozencraft, wife of the late Captain Memo himself, the recent acknowledgement the business has received provides an incredible source of validation of the impact Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise has had in the community and the growth it has shared with Clearwater Beach. “I’m honestly overwhelmed by the recognition” says Wozencraft. “As we approach 40 years in business, I must say, the affirmation of our importance to the region gives me an indescribable sense of pride. No matter what kind of success you enjoy as a business, the confirmation that what you are doing does matter, that your business is special; it validates everything we’ve done and it means the world to me.”

The finalists now move on to a period of additional review including an on-site visit from the judging panel. The 36th annual 2016 Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards will be announced September 16th at an awards ceremony to be held at the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts.
