Barry Alvarez To Speak At Big Ten Luncheon On Jan. 24 In Sarasota, Florida
Former Football Coach and Current University of Wisconsin Director of Athletics Will Be the Featured Speaker
Sarasota, FL, January 11, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Barry Alvarez, former football coach and current Director of Athletics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will be the featured speaker at the annual Big Ten Luncheon on Saturday, January 24, 11:30 a.m., at the Polo Grill and Bar, 10670 Boardwalk Loop in Lakewood Ranch.

Recently elected to the College Football Hall of Fame, Alvarez guided Wisconsin football for 16 seasons from 1990 to 2005. The winningest coach in Wisconsin Badgers history, he compiled a record of 118-73-4. During his 10-year tenure as the head of the Athletic Department, Wisconsin has won14 team national titles and 47 conference regular-season or tournament crowns.
Open to the alumni association members of the Big Ten schools, "this program will be one of our best yet," said Keir, a University of Minnesota alumnus. The master of ceremonies will be Don Brennan, former Sports Director and current co-host of Good Morning Suncoast on ABC-7.
There will be a cash bar starting at 11:30 a.m. and seating for the luncheon begins at noon. Reservations are due by Jan. 15.
