Are You Breathing? No, Really. Are You?

Ed Harrold Announces His New Book; Life With Breath . . . IQ + EQ = NEW YOU

Life With Breath IQ + EQ = NEW YOU

Speaker, executive coach, health & well-being specialist, peak performance coach and now Author, Ed Harrold, brings 18 years of experience successfully implementing yoga breathing strategies into lifestyle medicine, fitness and athletic performance as well as optimal organizational performance in high demand work environments.  Ed’s passion about mindful breathing is reflected in his personal story with his “life with breath” and how this contemplative practice can help you improve your health, well-being, and performance.

“It’s all about your breath and there are 100’s of ways to breathe in and out to meet our daily needs.  Breathing is the foundation of all movement, health & well-being,” says Ed.  “Respiration patterns and rates influence physiology, biochemistry, biomechanics and psychological responses.  These responses play a large role in our ability to manage stress, improve ill-health, enjoy healthful fitness routines, executive functioning and emotional intelligence as well as our ability to improve lifestyle habits leading to poor health.  I find so little knowledge and application on the powerful effects of respiratory physiology for improving health, prevention, recovery, and resilience.  That’s going to change.”

In a world where we are searching for ways to reduce stress and improve our health, Ed teaches us how to use one of the best tools we carry with us wherever we go - our breath.

Today’s person is moving through life at such a rapid unconscious pace.  We are faced with distractions, commitments, deadlines, and pressures that leave us feeling as if we can’t keep up.  This hurried state-of-being has turned on a part of our physiology that was designed for emergencies only; the Stress Response.  For many, this system has been running for so long, it won’t turn off.  It’s been trained to run on auto-pilot.

Stress is the physiologic effect of our thoughts and emotions.  In other words, the body bears the burden of how we’re thinking and feeling.  Today’s research reveals that the pattern of our heart rhythm reflects the state of our emotions and nervous system function.  The heart, brain and nervous system all take their cues from our breathing patterns.  “One of the first things we do when thoughts and feelings become negative is compromise our breathing and inhibit the connection (or coherence) between the mind and body,” says Ed.  “The effect of our emotions influences biochemistry, biomechanics, physiology, and psychology.  Hence, lifestyle and stress, and the inflammatory response from these are dominating the charts as the drivers of poor health and performance in our everyday lives.”

Life With Breath is a journey in discovering the mind-body relationship that is linked through breath; specifically, yoga breathing, and how this serves as a basis for reducing stress, improving health and well-being, building resilience, improving organizational performance AND transforming negative habitual patterns of behavior.

While there are several books on the market who talk about the practice of breathing for healthy living, very few provide a practical guide for implementing the breath into our personal self-care routine, our exercise and fitness routines AND our professional lives.  A Life With Breath provides the reader with an explanation on why breathing is so essential to our health and well-being.  Armed with new scientific research and knowledge, we begin to provide tools and strategies for mindfully breathing throughout the day.  The reader learns a breathing practice and mindfulness practice daily to start them on the road of living a “life with breath.”  The breathing practice begins to practice of retraining the body with healthful breathing rates and patterns.  In a calmer state, the awareness exercise affords us the opportunity to explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors we’d like to transform into habits that support our truest sense of self.

Throughout the book, I’m revealing all the ways mindful breathing can be introduced into daily fitness and exercise, at work to improve executive functioning or reduce stress from a particularly active day, brain breaks to balance the left & right hemispheres of the brain, techniques to fall asleep, sequences to improve various health conditions and so much more.

A “Life With Breath” is a journey into reuniting oneself with oneself.  It’s a self-care routine to live in harmony with the body’s natural cycles and rhythms for optimal health and well-being.  It includes 30 days of daily practices that serve as a guide and self-care routine.

Imagine that tomorrow morning you wake up feeling absolutely wonderful. You gently stretch your arms and smile as you think about the day ahead. You feel relaxed, refreshed and full of energy. You open the window and take a deep breath. You are filled with gratitude for your life, your family and friends and the wonders of the natural world. Life is good.

This can be your life if you choose it. It starts with one simple breath.  Discover YOUR Life With Breath!
