Altus ER Team to Join Relief Efforts for Texas Flood Victims

What started as a supply drive for area flood victims has turned into a true team effort as employees of Altus Emergency Centers, led by Chairman & CEO Taseer Badar of ZT Wealth, prepare to join disaster recovery groups next week as they work to clear and rebuild communities devastated by recent floods.

On March 15, a free snowcone event at the Lumberton emergency center became an impromptu donation center for surrounding residents, who gave water, clothes, food and cash to benefit a multitude of temporary shelters housing families from all over East and Southeast Texas. The following week, the ER donated 25 cases of water to a drive hosted by the Lumberton Chamber of Commerce, which also benefited flood victims. Next week, the team will put their boots on the ground and join other volunteers as they work to rebuild devastated communities.

An estimated 2,000 homes were damaged or destroyed in Orange and Newton counties earlier this month by historic flooding that resulted in a federal disaster declaration for three counties. Areas like Deweyville sustained roof-high water to schools and homes in the worst Sabine River flood since the late 1880s.
