ALR: Helps in the Fight Against Cancer

May 11th, 2010 | California | US: Cancer is one of the biggest killers in the world, with over 550,000 deaths in the U.S. alone in 2009. In fact, it ranks as the second cause of death in the U.S., being outranked only by heart disease. It is also one of the fastest spreading diseases with over 1.5 million new cases reported in the U.S. annually.

Association for Lifestyle Reform (ALR) is a dedicated supporter of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. The Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay for Life, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. The relay lasts 24 hours as a symbolic representation of the sleeplessness of cancer, with each participating team expected to have a representative on the track at all times.

Founder and CEO of ALR, Brad Wessler, states "Cancer creates havoc among patients and many forego the will to live. It is important at that time to support them in all that they need. Cancer has taken so much from so many people that we have to fight back in any way we can. The relay stands for everything we at ALR believe in. We want to make people's lives better in any way we can and we try to do our part through the event. It was a reiteration to our commitment of bringing lifestyle reform in the lives of our members."
