Act of Connecticut Announces All-Star Cast for Its World Premiere Adaptation of 'Working - a Musical'

ACT of Connecticut's 'WORKING' Cast

ACT of Connecticut (A Contemporary Theatre) is excited to announce the cast for its brand new version of Stephen Schwartz’s “WORKING.”  Artistic Director Daniel C. Levine’s reimagined, multimedia adaptation of the musical has performances from February 14 through March 10, 2019.

The newly assembled all-star cast for WORKING has six actors playing 26 roles and includes: Brad Greer (“THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY”), Andre Jordan (ACT of CT’s “MAMMA MIA!”, “SHREK THE MUSICAL”), Cooper Grodin (“THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA” as The Phantom, “LES MISERABLES”), Monica Ramirez (ACT of CT’s “EVITA”), Zuri Washington (“BRING IT ON: THE MUSICAL”), and Laura Woyasz (“WICKED” as Glinda).

Nominated for six TONY Awards, including Best Score, “WORKING” is based on Studs Terkel’s 1974 best-selling book of interviews with American workers from all walks of life, including a school teacher, housewife, fireman, millworker, and waitress. Collaborating closely with Broadway legend Stephen Schwartz (“WICKED”, “GODSPELL”, “PIPPIN”), Levine’s contemporary version weaves recent interviews with local workers from different professions into “WORKING’S” enduring musical score.

“‘WORKING’ has always been one of my favorite Broadway scores,” said Levine, the show’s director. “The music is brilliant in capturing each character’s hopes, dreams and struggles. Our production of ‘WORKING’ is unique in that it includes and honors workers from ACT’s beautiful hometown of Ridgefield. I can’t wait for our audiences to be the first to see it.”

“Dan’s concept for the show is a brand new one that I wholeheartedly endorse,” said Schwartz. “I like his use of high-tech media displays, and I think it’s terrific that he’s including local Ridgefield workers in a show that pays tribute to real people and the work they do. It’s going to be a very exciting production.”

Performances of “WORKING” are February 14 – March 10: Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. To purchase tickets, go to www.actofct.org or visit the box office at 36 Old Quarry Road, Ridgefield, CT or call 475-215-5433.
