New BMW R1100GS Scrambler from Hornig

Motorcycle Accessories Hornig used the winter months for an interesting reconstruction, which will now be presented on time for the start of the season. The company modified a BMW R1100GS in order to receive the TÜV-plaque (German street homologation).

Building on the success story of the BMW R1100R Scrambler renovation a year ago , that was presented by the company Hornig at the BMW Motorrad Days in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, now a further interesting modification by a BMW R1100GS follows with the aim to obtain a TÜV approval.Like already at the previous conversion the family company was looking for a suitable object on the second hand market. With little money a BMW R1100GS from the year 1997 with 78,000 km has been acquired, with which the conversion could be realized.

First, the accessory specialists disassembled the machine into its individual parts. It turned out that some changes have already been made to the R1100GS, what makes the entire project difficult. So the bike hast first to be brought back to its original state. This affected the complete rear end, the seat, as well as the front panel. The Remus Viper exhaust, which was only a little prepared, as well as the already existing wire wheels were preserved.New headlamps with a suitable holder and a speedometer have also found a place in the R1100GS. Furthermore an oil cooler which is actually located in the front panel by default was discreetly installed on the motorcycle. As already mentioned at the beginning the Hornig project focuses on getting the TÜV-plaque (German street homologation). Therefore, various attachments parts such as indicators, control lamps and a custom-designed licence-plate holder could not be missing. As a special highlight the tank was coated in the known BMW Motorsport colours. Also, a variety of aluminum parts from the Hornig product range now adorn the brand new Scrambler alteration.

Hornig is producing special parts and accessories for BMW motorcycles since 2001. They have come up with this idea because of their passion for motorcycling and expand their range of specific products, as well as by the new BMW models. In 2010 they moved to their new building to Cham, Germany, in order to ship the BMW Motorcycle Accessory even faster to all the customers in the whole world. They have about 2.000 sqm space in the new building and next to a state of the art logistic they offer their customers even a café to entertain you to a delicious meal after a twisted tour.
