WILCO PUBLISHERS Launch WILCO PICTURE LIBRARY

Back to Comic times..........but with a difference! A unique edutainment venture to Inspire, Educate and Delight

At a media conference held today, Wilco Publishers, the 52 year old book publishers and distributors, launched a unique series of comic books, Wilco Picture Library.

Wilco Picture Library is an unique series of illustrated comic books meant for all ages, especially children. They explore exciting subjects, enlighten, as well as delight with enchanting stories on Mythology, Ancient History and Religion that touch upon the lives of legendary characters, leaders and figures ranging from Arjuna, Rama and Hanuman to Shivaji, Chandragupta Maurya and Ashoka, and from Lord Ganesha and Lord Krishna to Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teressa. That's not all, there's the science of inventions and the wonder of discoveries, the joy of exploring new cities and the cheer of celebrating festivals... all within the pages of WPL comic books.

Ajai Shah, Managing Director, Wilco Publishers, describes his product as sheer "edutainment". He explains, "In today's wired and visual world, books need to be compellingly attractive and interesting to engage readers, especially young minds. Comics keep their audience, especially young minds, captivated and make even boring material fun and educative. Wilco believes this medium could be instrumental in educating as well as instilling a deep sense of values. Hence, WPL was created with the aim to inspire, enrich and delight its readers."

Agrees, Dr. Sajeda Q. Maskati, Counselling Psychologist for children, "In today's fast-paced, digital age it's hard to fathom that a child who is surrounded by laptops, netbooks, smart phones and overdosed with television would consider picking up the old fashioned paperback. These attractive, easy-to-read and visually stimulating WPL titles are just what the doctor ordered to excite children to get into the habit of reading."

The stories are authentic and well researched, the visuals colourful and lively and the text and narrative in crisp and simple English. Their high production value give the series a very plush look but each title is still available at the extremely affordable price tag of only Rs. 50. Slated to be a 500-plus series, WPL currently has 52 titles available in stores and newsstands nationally and has plans to release four new comic books every month. Further plans include publishing these editions in regional languages. WPL can also be bought or subscribed to directly at www.wilcopicturelibrary.com and shipped worldwide.
