UpSmith Raises $10 Million Series A to Power the People Who Power America

SemperVirens leads the round as UpSmith invests in its AI profit engine for the trades

UpSmith, the AI profit engine for trades businesses, today announced it has raised $10 million in Series A funding to expand its platform for essential services contractors. At a time when many are debating the role of AI and data centers in society, UpSmith is committed to making blue collar builders - including electricians, plumbers, and air conditioning repair and replacement technicians - the beneficiaries of new advancements in technology.

The round was led by SemperVirens, with participation from existing and new investors, including Hannah Grey Ventures, Asymmetric Capital Partners, CIV, Synetro Group, WaterStone Impact Fund anchored by Tim Tebow, Colin M. Evans at Sandwith Ventures (former head of startups and venture partnerships at OpenAI), Deason Capital Services, and OpenGov co-founder Zachary Bookman. Allison Baum Gates, General Partner at SemperVirens, and Rob Biederman, Managing Partner at Asymmetric Capital Partners, join UpSmith's board of directors.

UpSmith will use the funding to expand its engineering team and distribution across the home services industry, which is the initial focus area for its technology platform. The company is also introducing an AI voice agent for inbound customer calls and a unified customer timeline bringing customer interactions and job activities into one record.

Home-services businesses often accumulate thousands of open estimates, missed calls, overdue maintenance needs, expiring memberships and inactive customers. Following up on each opportunity requires time and staff that many operators do not have. UpSmith uses AI agents to identify and act on those opportunities, turning untapped customer demand into measurable results, including thousands of booked jobs and millions of dollars in revenue for contractors.

"We believe AI should power the people who power America. The skilled trades are the backbone of this country, and we're building technology that solves real problems for contractors, delivers measurable results and helps their businesses grow," said Wyatt Smith, founder and CEO of UpSmith. "This funding allows us to put more powerful tools in the hands of the people who keep America running."

Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Dallas, TX, UpSmith serves more than 200 home-services operators across the United States and is a certified ServiceTitan ecosystem partner.

At HomeTown Services, a Texas-based, multi-trade home services company operating in 5 states, UpSmith has supported more than 5,000 completed jobs recovering unsold estimates in 2026 - helping technicians across our HVAC, plumbing, and electrical brands get back to opportunities that would otherwise have gone cold. At Five Star Home Services in Ohio, cancellations fell 34% after UpSmith was deployed. Texas-based Medley AC generated $147,000 in new revenue in three months while reducing cancellations by 25%.

"We've built a reputation over decades across our brands, and a customer base to match it, but there are only so many hours in the day to act on either," said Ray Pickens, COO at HomeTown Services. "The database was always the asset - we just couldn't work it fast enough on our own. UpSmith helped us go back through that history and turn thousands of opportunities that were sitting untapped into real, booked work for our techs, instead of leaving them on the table."

"The skilled trades are the backbone of the American economy, yet the technology built for these businesses has historically lagged behind the critical role they play," said Allison Baum Gates, General Partner at SemperVirens and UpSmith Board Member, who led the Series A investment. "UpSmith is delivering measurable results for contractors across the country, and its growth over the past several months shows the demand for technology that can help these businesses operate and grow."

Asymmetric Capital Partners has backed UpSmith since its first institutional financing in 2022 and has invested in each round since.

"We wrote UpSmith's first institutional check because Wyatt and his team are from the heart of America and understand the operational problems contractors deal with every day," said Rob Biederman, Managing Partner at Asymmetric Capital Partners. "That understanding has stayed close to the product as the company has grown. Contractors can see the impact in jobs booked, cancellations prevented and revenue recovered."

The new capabilities are designed to extend the results UpSmith is already delivering across more customer interactions. Across its customers, UpSmith has helped operators book thousands of jobs, recover millions in revenue and reduce cancellations, while creating additional capacity for existing teams. With voice and a unified customer history, UpSmith is expanding the number of customer interactions where its AI agents can drive those outcomes.
