Turner Publishing Acquires New Book by Businessman and Philanthropist Peter Kiernan
Online, August 23, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Turner Publishing is pleased to announce the acquisition of BECOMING CHINA'S BITCH; And Eleven Other Catastrophes We Must Avoid Right Now, by businessman, philanthropist, and advisor to political leaders Peter Kiernan. Turner acquired the rights from Steve Ross, Director of the Book Division at Abrams Artists Agency.
BECOMING CHINA'S BITCH is a "Radical Centrist Manifesto" for confronting twelve seemingly inevitable threats to the very fabric of our nation, from the excessive influence of lobbyists and think tanks and the devolution of the labor movement, to the befuddling bureaucracy that hampers our intelligence efforts, and beyond. Kiernan outlines the key factors that brought the U.S. to this precarious state, and devises an uncompromising escape plan. Turner will publish BECOMING CHINA'S BITCH in February 2012.
"Turner is thrilled to be publishing this provocative, radical centrist look at the current state of national affairs," says Todd Bottorff, president and publisher of Turner Publishing. "Kiernan has made a successful career of identifying and solving problems, and we are eager to share his approach in this groundbreaking new book."
"At a time when our political scene is so very polarized," adds executive editor Diane Gedymin, "Kiernan pointedly urges each and every American to examine what is truly good for the nation and move beyond partisan politics. To bring this to book to readers during a contentious election year couldn't be timelier."
Peter Kiernan, III has spent decades at the highest levels of American business, social innovation, and venture philanthropy. In addition to acting as CEO of his own venture firm, Kiernan serves as founding Board Member of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation and chairman of TechHealth, Inc. He is also a past chairman of the Robin Hood Foundation and former partner at Goldman Sachs.
