Therapeutic Boarding School Awards Ceremony
Online, August 29, 2011 (Newswire.com) - On Wednesday, June 22, nearly 200 people gathered to reflect upon and celebrate the accomplishments of the Glenholme Class of 2011. Held in the school's newly completed Center for the Arts, the 75-minute commencement ceremony featured a selection of speeches, performances, and awards, during which twelve seniors, clad in blue and white regalia, graced the stage as high school students for the last time.
Executive Director Maryann Campbell not only extensively praised the graduating class, but also commended parents on their dedication to their children and to the school. Jeff, Vice President of the Student Council, thoughtfully remarked to his peers: "Throughout the learning experiences here at Glenholme, friendships have been formed and a community has been built - with much help from this eclectic senior class. We have the technology for any task that comes our way. So keep your chins up, drive yourselves and follow your hearts; this will bring you far."
Victoria Cherniske and Sarah Gager, representatives of the Judea Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), honored Glenholme student Brandon (pictured at the top left) with the DAR Citizenship Award, an award presented annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism at school and within the community. Principal Sharon Murphy also acknowledged students Sam and Shmuel as exceptional role models, and presented each of them with a Glenholme Scholarship Award to help fund their post-secondary endeavors.
In closing, Assistant Executive Director Dr. Patrick Queenan offered words of encouragement to the Class of 2011: "We hope you will happily recall the lessons that you've learned, the fun times that you've had, and the people who've made your time at Glenholme what it was. We all wish you lives of happiness and success, and we are assured that you will go out there and continue to make us proud."
