The Upper Room Receives A $5,000 Donation From The Halcyon Club
Online, May 3, 2013 (Newswire.com) - The Halcyon Club has provided a generous donation of $5,000 to The Upper Room, a Family Resource Center in Derry, NH. This donation marks one of several that The Halcyon Club has decided to give to multiple local non-profit organizations, totaling $25,000.
The Halcyon Club started in 1913 as a meeting place for community members to socialize and play cards. Today, The Halcyon Club has over 700 members, and the building features a bar and function hall, and hosts social events such as karaoke and DJ nights. It has been a very generous member of the community over the years. The Halcyon Club has supported and sponsored softball and little league teams, hosted free dinners for senior citizens, and supported The Salvation Army, local soup kitchens, and of course, The Upper Room.
"In a year where an increasing number of community members are in need of The Upper Room's help, this donation from The Halcyon Club will prove to help local families and individuals in a very positive manner," stated Kimberly Bavaro, The Upper Room's Executive Director. "We want to thank The Halcyon Club for their kindness and support over the years."
The Halcyon Club relayed that these substantial donations are a result of wanting to celebrate their milestone 100th anniversary by giving back to their community. In addition to donating to The Upper Room, The Halcyon Club has also donated to The Boys and Girls Club.
