Seicoat Corporation Helps City Park Resolve its Graffiti Problem

Seicoat Corporation and its affiliate in Vancouver, BC helped a city parks department alleviate graffiti from a skate park.

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 4, 2010) - Seicoat BC isn't just all about business - we're about helping the community and together fighting the fight, as it were, against graffiti.

We're glad to see that towns and cities have said, "Enough!" and are enacting a ZERO TOLERANCE policy on graffiti. The District of Sechelt, British Columbia is one of them. District officials realized that for the policy to work, they would have to set an example and first get rid of major graffiti troublespots, namely and starting with a local skate park.

Their biggest obstacle, typical of most graffiti abatement programs, was and is lack of funds. So, after Sechelt officials called us in and we gave a $6,000 quote for a extremely-challenging job of removing graffiti on surfaces covering more than 8,000 square feet, they said they simply didn't have that amount left in their budgets. They asked if we could "work with them" and do the entire job for less than half the amount we quoted.

We saw an opportunity here, plus again, we want to work together with communities on graffiti abatement programs, and prove our services and products far exceed those of our competitors. So we undertook the job, and with two of our specially-equipped trucks and two fully trained and industry certified crews, we did the job for the District of Sechelt, a task that took two and one-half very long days. We saved them even more money (not to mention liability issues) by doing only the sloped horizontal surfaces on the park, suggesting they paint over the vertical surfaces as a cost-saving move. And naturally we recommended, when budgets permit, to have us remove the graffiti from the vertical surfaces and apply our GPA-300 Graffiti Proofer® anti-graffiti coating that is guaranteed for 10 years and allows one to remove graffiti with a dry cloth or water flushing..

For starters, any business or resident near the skate park now has an incentive to report or take action whenever tagging appears, not just at the skate park, but on their own property. We can only hope they call Seicoat BC.
