RICS Americas announced today the official roster of the organization's Markets Council and outlined its initial goals.

The RICS Americas Markets Council represents members whose expertise includes real estate finance, real estate investment, economics, brokerage/advisory, development, data provision, and corporate owner occupation.

The Council and its members have six primary goals:

2. To be an official RICS Americas source of information and opinion on topics relating to real estate and capital markets, especially for press statements and representations to government.

3. To raise the profile of RICS in the global transaction-based community including investors, developers, brokers, financiers, data providers and economists.

4. To improve the business and professional network available to RICS members across all world regions.

5. To develop and enforce member allegiance to principles and standards constituting best practice.

6. To promote working partnerships with other respected organizations serving real estate and capital markets.

"The first mission of the Markets Council is to discern for the wider RICS membership and its clients the impact of recent economic volatility on deal making prospects for the new decade," said Tony Grant FRICS, the council chairman. "By offering strong guidance to the community of brokers, investors and all the specialties that support their business, we can help ensure adherence to best practice and ethical transparency.
