Dr. AP Grow explores bad management behaviors and how to fix them in his new book, How to Not Suck as a Manager: 5 Facts to Bring Any Boss Out of the Basement.

After hearing of bad manager experiences from hundreds of individuals, Dr. Grow decided to discover the most common bad manager behaviors and then teach managers how to overcome them. To learn what bad manager behaviors most upset people, he launched a national study. In his study he asked people to share experiences related to bad managers they have had and what would they do differently if they were the manager. The data collected in this study serves as the foundation for the book.

"It shouldn't surprise us why there are so many bad managers in the workplace. Research is clear that many managers receive no training before taking their job. It's important to identify the most common bad manager behaviors and share information that will help all managers avoid these behaviors as they work with others."

In this first edition from the Workplace Sanity Group's Workplace Sanity Series, Dr. Grow gives managers the information they need to not suck at their job. According to Dr. Grow behaviors that managers must focus on include 1) Treating team members with respect 2) Being aware of what's happening on their teams 3) Appropriate delegation strategies (avoiding micromanaging) 4)Taking action about non team player behavior, and 5) Communicating to team members when small adjustments to the work are needed.

Dr. Grow is the Dean of Workplace Sanity Education for Workplace Sanity Group. More information is available at www.workplacesanity.com.
