Canon Launches Its Smallest In The Professional Series Camcorder Ever
Online, January 13, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Today Canon launched its smallest professional digital video camera ever, the XA10. This ultra-compact, Full HD, AVCHD pro model offers superb mobility and versatility for semi-pros, advanced amateurs or budding film makers.
"The new Canon XA10 is perfect for situations requiring a high-performance video camera that is highly-portable, such as in-field work, live news situations or anywhere you need to be as close as 60cm from your subject," said Anna Kalinowska, Brand Manager - Professional Video, Canon Australia. "The compact nature of the camera means it's perfect for a variety of uses including action sports, car scenes or rig environments."
"Canon's engineering has really compressed its cutting-edge video capture technology," continued Kalinowska. "So ¬even though this camera fits in the palm of your hand, it is packed with professional features like a detachable handle for low-angle shooting, XLR inputs, infrared, a microphone holder and loads of manual features, including a focus ring."
The XA10 features an infrared (IR) mode with built-in IR lamp to open up a world of night-time shooting. Its high-quality 30mm wide-angle and 10 x Optical Zoom Full HD Lens, allows videographers to capture more detail and richer colour than ever before, especially in diminishing light conditions that have previously made shooting less than favourable.
Evolving from pixel size to pixel width
The pixel size of the new HD CMOS Pro 1/3 inch sensor is 260% larger than previous sensors in Canon cameras this size, giving it even higher sensitivity than ever before in low-light conditions and a wide dynamic range. The Auto Dynamic Range Control ensures that there is no image loss due to overexposure or loss of details in the shadows. The XA10 has Instant Auto Focus and Face Detection for razor-sharp subjects, while the 8 bladed iris gives a natural background-blur. The combined effect of these features make each frame closer to what the human eye sees in the real world, resulting in stunning video capture.
Professional-quality audio system
The XA10 captures video with amazing sound quality. It has a 2-channel XLR terminal and a built-in high-performance microphone with directivity and sensitivity controls.
Manual and creative control
The XA10 is packed with manual features, including a focus ring, custom keys and the ability to set aperture, shutter speed and gain. You can see everything clearly on the 3.5-inch high-resolution Touch LCD screen and get even more creative with cinema filters, allowing effects to be applied to the footage you shoot in camera, such as "dramatic black and white", "vivid" or "nostalgic".
Canon XA10 is the ultra-compact, high-performance video camera that offers plenty of professional features.
