February 4, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Continuously variable transmission or CVT is a system which allows the transmission to change through a vast range of gear ratios seamlessly. This allows the transmission to maintain a constant velocity which can provide the most efficient RPM range. This can ensure better fuel economy and maximise vehicle performance.
Currently this technology is only available in one large Subaru vehicle; the Liberty. However, with regards to the Subaru Forrester, Perth customers interested in this model may find that Subaru will extend the use of CVTs into this and other vehicles in the range.
The CVT technology is currently used in a belt format for Subaru's series of mini cars which have been available in the Japanese market for a great number of years.
