SOS Mullaperiyar Song - Stay Alive By Sisters TE

A song by 'Sisters TE', requesting friends and enemies for a chance to stay alive, on this side of the Mullaperiyar Dam.

At a time, when the threat of the 'Mullaperiyar dam burst' is hanging like the sword of Damocles over the heads of three million people downstream Mullaperiyar and a major portion of the state of Kerala in India, two teenage girls known as 'Sisters TE' have brought out a song called 'SOS Mullaperiyar Song - Stay Alive'.

'Sisters TE' comprises of Rachel Thomas Easaw and Rebecca Thomas Easaw, twin sisters studying in Eleventh at Toc H Public School, Cochin, Kerala.

Rachel TE, in her introductory speech addresses the audience as friends and enemies, genuinely not knowing who is friend and who is enemy. The song points out the callous attitude with which the PM of the country, the Tamil Nadu Government and the Kerala Government has kept mum all these years, with no solution to offer even now. The song pleads for the immediate draining of the dam to prevent colossal damage and to respect a fundamental constitutional right to STAY ALIVE.

The song is a soul stirring phenomenon and is bound to touch the hearts of all good human beings. But it needs to touch everybody's hearts, for these girls to stay alive.

SOS Mullaperiyar Song - Stay Alive By Sisters TE

They did say it will come someday
Now they say, it is today
Danger seen so far away
Is now with us and here to stay
Waters that served us yesterday
Is now the cause of our dismay
Battered, tattered, they say
Is Mullaperiyar dam, today
Nobody seems bothered still
Three million this side of the hill
To be washed away and killed
But we would like to stay
Stay alive

Prime Minister of the land
Please hear our plea and lend a hand
For once at least please state your stand
Three million waiting hand in hand
And please Sir, Please understand
Our lives are right now in your hand
Ain't three million lives worth more than
A coalition government
And please Sir, please understand
We ain't crying for separate land
Or anything you cannot stand
We only want to stay

To fathers and mothers throughout the land
To brothers and sisters in Tamil Nadu
For long we never raised our hand
Just for the harmony of this land
It hurts us deep, when we hear you say
No danger to the dam today
Had an earthquake even yesterday
Don't know if it will repeat today
We don't mean to deny you waters
We don't want to kill your daughters
We don't wish to bring you tatters
We only want to stay
Stay alive

And to our state government
Please respect this sentiment
Don't wait for another day
Don't know if we'll survive this day
Lest a new dam is years away
Least let out the waters today
Let there be no more delay
We really want to stay
We mean no harm to anyone
Just want to save our near dear ones
We want to live life fully once
We only want to stay
Stay Alive
