Yoga Sol Celebrates Three-year Anniversary

Yoga Sol is celebrating its third year serving the Twin Cities community.

Yoga Sol, the only donation-based yoga studio in the Twin Cities is celebrating its third year serving the community. The studio opened its doors on May 1, 2012 in Northeast Minneapolis as an experiment and still operates on a unique business model that has no prices. The pay-what-you-can model has been attempted and abandoned by others in the yoga and wider business communities, but Yoga Sol continues to see success and is now looking to expand into the greater Twin Cities.

“As a studio, we decided early on that we wanted to make yoga accessible to as many people as possible,” says Yoga Sol founder, Flor Frey. “We are seeing the growth of yoga as a mainstream form of exercise here in the Twin Cities and strive to create a space that provides a safe and inviting atmosphere for students of all levels.”

According to Spafinder, a New York based health industry consultancy, about 22M Americans practiced yoga in 2012 – that’s 2M more than in 2010. Yoga Sol’s NE location has seen traffic grow from 200 students per month to 2000 in just three years. Frey attributes the studio’s growth to its strong community and quality teachers who offer a diverse set of classes.
