West Bloomfield's First Coworking Space Opens in December

West Bloomfield is getting its first coworking space, Visionary Meetings. The shared work space officially opens December 1, 2014. The first week open will offer free coworking and a grand opening celebration on December 5, 2014 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm.

The grand opening celebration will include tours of the new shared workspace, refreshments, snacks, raffle, games and a variety of goodies to take home.

Coworking or shared office spaces allows for an open work environment where freelancers can mix and mingle.

We would like help create opportunities for small business owners to network and share ideas

Angela Samuels, Owner

Working from a coffee house or library does not provide the same effect as a coworking space would.  In a coworking space, everyone there is present for the same purpose and many thrive in that kind of environment.  Coworking allows people to form face-to-face business networking connections and meet new people to make friends with.

The 1,670 square-foot space with workspace for up to 20 people is equipped with:

·         whiteboard

·         network printer

·         fax, copier and shredder

·         conference rooms for rent

·         kitchen space

Visionary Meetings will change the way people work by providing a collaborative open work environment in West Bloomfield and surrounding communities. Individuals that often work alone–at home or in cafes–can work beside other like-minded people at Visionary Meetings.

Visionary Meetings, a coworking office space, is the latest coworking community to launch in Michigan–and one of the newest to join the network of coworking spaces across the United States.

An increase in self-employment, as well as advancements in technology, is changing how people work. This is evident in every neighborhood cafe: laptop screens, conference calls while drinking coffee and crowded tables. Freelancers, independent consultants, telecommuters, and other people working from home are looking for a new place to work, connect with people, and get away from the distractions that creep in while working at home. The coffee house has traditionally filled that role–but was always a compromise with loud noises, small tables and unreliable Wi-Fi.

Angela Samuels, owner of Visionary Meetings, said the goal of Visionary Meetings is to help support local authors and small businesses.
