Founded in 1989 by Gail Valeskie as a sole proprietorship, Valeskie Data/Word Processing was first located in the Washington Square area near the Embarcadero Center and San Francisco Ferry Building.  Renting an office within the law offices of Lawler and Lawler, immigration attorneys, Ms. Valeskie prepared immigration documents, and helped with Spanish translations from the firms’ client interviews.  Clients during those beginning years consisted of attorneys specializing in bankruptcy and fraud, contract and corporate law, patents, and personal injury.  Later, thanks to programs for minority and women-owned businesses, Valeskie Data/Word Processing performed work with major corporations such as McKesson, Pacific Gas & Electric Company (transcribing many of PG&E’s interviews with Erin Brockovich), UCSF’s Community Consortium (under the direction of Dr. Donald Abrams during the height of the AIDS epidemic), and the Veteran Administration’s Hepatitis C Research Center of San Francisco.

Since moving to American Canyon in 2003, Valeskie Data/Word continues to serve a wide variety of clientele.  Proudly, Ms. Valeskie has served some of her clients during her entire 25 years in business!  These include Dr. Alan Scott (25 years) and Dr. William Good (20 years), both ophthalmologists at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, as well as Janet Spires (11 years), who owns and operates Janet’s Residential Facility for the Elderly in the San Francisco Sunset District.  Some of her present clients include authors and motivational speakers such as Rebecca Hall Gruyter (Your Purpose Driven Practice) and Gary C. As a small business owner since 1989, Gail Valeskie has always seemed to have the entrepreneurial spirit.  Born and raised in San Francisco, she decided to go into business for herself when she finally realized Corporate America was not a good fit for her.  Having been often told she had great organizational and project management skills, plus having exceptional accuracy and mastery of language and transcription skills, it was only natural for Gail to gravitate to a service-oriented type of business.
