Local Pompano Beach Resident and Business Owner Fighting Highly Aggressive Form of Lymphoma
Tony Sillato, owner of Building America LLC and a local Pompano Beach resident has a GoFundMe campaign launched by his friends and family to raise funds to treat his relatively rare, highly aggressive form of cancer - Double Hit Lymphoma.
Pompano Beach, Florida, September 21, 2015 (Newswire.com) - A South Florida resident and local business owner of Building America LLC has been diagnosed with a relatively rare and very aggressive form of cancer. Tony Sillato (61) was diagnosed with Double Hit Lymphoma in April 2015 after suffering in severe pain for months.
“Double hit lymphoma (DHL) describes patients whose lymphoma tumors exhibit mutations on two significant genes, where most lymphoma patients have a mutation on only one.” (www.lymphoma.org) This relatively rare sub-type of lymphoma has only recently been identified in 2008. However, because of its aggressive nature and the poor responses to standard R-CHOP therapy (rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone) researchers have pulled their focus into finding a more effective treatment.

Whatever he sets his mind to...he achieves but never forgets about the people around him who support and love him. Despite the current studies and clinical trials being conducted by cancer researchers, existing treatments are expensive, debilitating, time-consuming and often not very effective – providing poor odds for those who are already diagnosed with and fighting this highly aggressive form of cancer. With this in mind, Mr. Sillato’s family and friends have set-up a GoFundMe page to gather funds to support him and his family and pay hospital bills.
