Inaugural Santa Monica Bloody Mary Battle Raises $2,451 for Local Charity, Swim With Heart

The Santa Monica Bloody Mary Battle held on Sunday, June 28 was a huge success, and had over 300 thirsty Bloody Mary enthusiasts in attendance. Joe Matlock from Lago took first place in the competition, and was able to raise $2,451 for a local Santa Monica charity, Swim with Heart, which helps children with special needs excel in swimming.
Hosted by Del Frisco's Grille and Tito's Handmade Vodka, bartenders from Lago, Del Frisco's Grille, Blue Plate Taco, The Lobster and Areal competed for the title of "Santa Monica's Best Bloody Mary." They presented their best bloody to a panel of esteemed judges, including Rob Schwenker of the Santa Monica Daily Press, Jeff Miller of Thrillist LA, Celebrity DJ Casey Connor and Tito's Handmade Vodka representative, Brittany Olson, and the battle was hosted by morning TV personality Mar Yvette from Good Day LA.
Attendees also voted by choosing their favorite in a blind tasting, and a combination of their votes and the judges' determined the winner. The donation was made through a portion of proceeds from the event, as well as a generous donation of $1551 from Tito's Vodka.
