Forest Trail Academy Tie-Up With Waldorf College for Dual Enrollment College Credit Programs

Florida, United States, October 14, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Forest Trail Academy – one of the leading K-12 online schools in the United States – recently entered into an agreement with Waldorf College, a liberal arts college in Iowa, to provide its students with a Dual Enrollment Program. This program helps high school students get a head start on college by giving them the opportunity to earn both high school and college credits at the same time.

"Students registering for our Dual Enrollment Program will have access to Waldorf’s online courses that will allow them to earn college credits while completing their high school coursework," said Dr. Gifty Chung, Director at Forest Trail Academy. "This program provides students with relevant academic college experience very similar to a traditional college environment. Moreover, students will have the opportunity to attend classes with other Waldorf students via online courses taught by Waldorf’s experienced faculty."

Waldorf offers online courses that are three credit hours with a tuition fee of $243.00 per course. For students under 18, parents must provide a signed statement of their intention to pay for the courses. The Dual Enrollment Program utilizes the loan-a-book program or e-books when they are available.

Dr. Chung also noted, "The credits/ degree earned under this program can be transferred to most colleges and universities since Waldorf is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Additionally, our high school students who take online classes at Waldorf College will be eligible for freshman residential scholarships."

Students are required to satisfy a certain set of criteria in order to secure admission to Waldorf’s online courses," added Dr. Chung. "They are –

1. Students must be at least 15 years of age and should have completed their sophomore year of high school with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

2.  High school students enrolled with Waldorf College are required to maintain a GPA of 2.5 in both high school and Waldorf College.

3.  Students must submit a Recommendation Letter from a Forest Trail Academy Administrator, Academic Advisor or Counselor.

4.  Students must also submit a copy of their current High School Transcript(s). In case a student is home schooled, the student’s parents must self-report the student’s GPA via a documented letter to the Registrar or Director of Admissions.

5. Students may take one course each term."

"After successfully completing the Waldorf College course, students will have the opportunity to enroll for ‘Entry Level Core Required Courses’ for the many degree programs offered by Waldorf.
