Coastal's Sharon Simms Appointed To International Relations Committee For St. Petersburg

Coastal announced that Sharon Simms, the company's VP of International Markets, has been appointed by the City Council of the City of St. Petersburg, Florida, to serve as as a member of the International Relations Committee.

Coastal Properties Group International/Christie’s International Real Estate announced that Sharon Simms, the company’s Vice President of International Markets, has been appointed by the City Council of the City of St. Petersburg, Florida, to serve as a member of the International Relations Committee.

In this role, Ms. Simms will be directly involved with international matters as they affect the City and will also serve to maintain the Sister City relationships; as well as promoting the Student Ambassador Program with the Sister Cities.

“It is an honor to have been appointed to this significant committee that plays such a huge part in promoting our city to others from around the world,” commented Ms. Simms. “Building and cultivating  these relationships benefits us both locally and abroad in many different fashions.”   

Simms is no stranger to conducting and building real estate relationships in international markets. Fluent in both Spanish and German, Simms has been involved with the following groups to enhance international business at the local level:  the Florida International Museum, the St. Petersburg International Relations Committee, the Tampa Bay Council for International Visitors, The Tampa Bay International Trade Council and the Tampa Bay Area Committee on Foreign Relations.

“I am looking forward to developing and expanding international markets in St. Petersburg,” continued Simms. “There are many opportunities and avenues to pursue. In 2014 Florida will account for 25% of all U.S. home sales to foreigners, leading the nation in sales to international buyers.”

Sharon’s rich and diverse real estate career began in 1986 when she started with Merrill Lynch Realty which became Prudential Florida Realty, which then became Arvida Realty Services, and ultimately was acquired by Coldwell Banker. Sharon worked for RE/MAX Metro for five years before opening ALVA International, Inc. in 2009. Alva International merged with Coastal Properties Group International in January of this year. The office is located in downtown St. Petersburg at 238 Beach Drive.
