The energy industry has been seeing good results in the past few years and is set to grow in the coming years. The industry needs water to run the day to day operations but the waste they dispose of is now a topic of intense scrutiny. In the past 10-15 years, wastewater disposed by these industries has posed a threat to the environment forcing the emergence of regulations that need to be complied with.
Water is a very crucial resource, especially today when reservoirs and rivers are drying up. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), by 2025, half of the world's population will be living in water-stressed areas. This begs the need for sustainable methods that recycle the water we are using, ways to save it and keep the supply running without exploiting resources. Harvesting it has yet to become a common practice, and some of the common challenges are better and more efficient technology.
