You Can't Keep A Good Ranch Down: Loveland's Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch Is Open, One Year After The Flood

A year after the devastating flood of September 2013, Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch in Loveland Colorado has re-opened for business and welcomes visitors for Weddings, Reunions, Group Events, Business Meetings and Retreats, and Holiday Events.

Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch is known for both its breathtaking beauty and legendary hospitality. Both were put to the test one year ago. While the majority of Sylvan Dale’s more than 3000 acres was untouched by the September 2013 flood that devastated so much of Colorado, a significant amount of the main ranch grounds was swept away. The destruction was far worse than the Ranch suffered during the historic 1976 flood.

But as so many will attest, the spirit of the owners and staff at Sylvan Dale is strong. Even as the historic Jessup Lodge was being demolished, and flood waters continued to carry mud and memories downstream, Susan proclaimed, “We’ll be open June 1st!” And true to her words Sylvan Dale Ranch welcomed guests for the 2014 summer season.

"While Sylvan Dale is located in a really beautiful spot and the surrounding mountains and country are also spectacular, it seems to be the quality of the Sylvan Dale people that really make the difference."

Amazingly, Sylvan Dale Ranch had actually opened for horseback riding and lessons within just a few weeks following the flood. Even today, when considering the severity of flood damage, many are surprised to learn that the Ranch is open again.

Now, one year later Sylvan Dale has made a remarkable recovery. Only those that witnessed the tremendous amount of destruction can truly appreciate the present state of the Ranch, a recovery that is nothing less than a miracle, thanks to a “never say die” spirit and the enormous response from volunteers who donated their time and  well wishers that contributed financial gifts.

In addition to welcoming Summer Dude Vacation guests, Sylvan Dale is also hosting weddings, group meetings and reunions, and business retreats. Sylvan Dale can be reached at (970) 667-3915 or online at SylvanDale.com
