Yankees on Deck enters the Akadema Wood Bat Shop to discover how a wood billet is crafted into a baseball bat.

Hawthorne, NJ - May 25, 2010 - Yankees on Deck, an original program from the Yankees Entertainment and Sports (YES) Network, returns to Akadema and enters the wood bat shop. The segment will air on YES Network Wednesday, May 25 at 12:30pm, Thursday, May 27 at 7:30am, and Friday, May 28 at 11:00pm EST. Akadema CEO, Joe Gilligan, and Wood Bat Specialist, Gregg Griffin, will demonstrate the process of taking a wood billet and finishing with a baseball bat. The Yankees on Deck host selects an ash billet, and watches as it is cut on the lathe, finished, painted and engraved with her name. The Akadema Bat Shop, located in Hawthorne, NJ, cuts over 30,000 bats per year, making Akadema one of the largest wood bat manufacturers in America.
