Increasing demand for prefabrication leads to XS CAD expansion
WASHINGTON, December 11, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Increasing demand, tighter project lead times and technological improvements contribute to greater levels of prefabrication in construction. As urban populations swell, there is an increasing need for more buildings. Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) and prefabricated construction BIM solutions enable mass assembly off-site in controlled environments, before being transported to site, resulting in shorter construction times, significant cost savings and greater efficiency.
XS CAD recently expanded its dedicated DfMA and Prefabrication Design Division to cater to the increasing prefabrication design needs worldwide. A recent XS CAD project involved the provision of models and drawings, including all structural detail and support systems, as well as MEP services, fittings and sanitaryware, for an installation of more than 750 prefabricated bathroom, shower room and washroom pods for a large US based hospital.
In another project, the XS CAD design team created 550 unique, prefabricated engineering modules for corridor ceilings, risers and for an external energy centre in a UK-based hospital. MEP services were coordinated to allow fitting, assembly, access and lagging. The DfMA team assisted with detailed module drawing preparation.
