Write Up On Interhouse Quiz
Online, August 27, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Are General Knowledge and General Awareness reducing amongst "GenY" , that is the question most commonly asked or debated amongst most adults who lived through the non-event of Y2K as a part of their working hours. That is also a question which I have asked myself time and again. I have yet not been able to answer this simple question to my own satisfaction, even after being involved with conducting the Quiz for two years running (Inter-House and Science quiz) at The Singapore International School.
With this type of a dilemma in my brain, I sat down to prepare questions for this year's version of Inter-house quiz, which was held in the Auditorium on 13th August 2013 from 2.05 pm to 3.40 pm. The contestants seemed keen, and for most part, were looking serious and trying their best to look knowledgeable.
The event went through very smoothly and produced two different winners at the Junior and senior level. The Junior Quiz was won by Grandmaster House (Team comprising of; Shauryan Ratan [Gd-7], Mehek Gada [Gd-8], Varun Pitambar [Gd-9], Pranay Shah [Gd-9], Yash Tambe [Gd-7]. Whereas the Senior Quiz was won by Wimbledon House (Team comprising of; Yash Naik [Gd-10], Bhavya Mehta [Gd-11], Sahil Rai [Gd-11], Shanav Mehta [Gd -12], Anish Puri [Gd-12]
Every student who came on stage as a contestant, felt that they knew the answers, the only problem was that, the questions were not geared towards the answers, which they knew. This resulted in some 'interesting' answers, some repeated answers.
The audience for its part had a good time, believing for most part that, they would have represented their house better than the chosen contestants. This bravado seemed to vaporise, when it came to the Audience Round, and not too many points were scored by any of the house during this round.
The event was enjoyable and I for one would like to believe that, it was enjoyed to the extent that the next event is even more eagerly awaited than the just concluded one.
