Winters Bros. acquires the Long Island assets of Progressive Waste Solution. This purchase establishes Winters Bros. as the leading solid waste and recycling company on Long Island. Significant growth of the recycling infrastructure already underway.

Winters Bros. acquires Long Island operations of Progressive Waste Solutions

Winters Bros. Waste Systems announced today that it has acquired Progressive Waste Solutions’ operations on Long Island.  Under terms of the agreement, Winters Bros. has acquired all hauling operations, seven recycling operations and eight transfer stations operations all located in Nassau and Suffolk counties.  With the acquired assets, Winters Bros. will serve an additional 20,000 customers and multiple municipalities across Nassau and Suffolk counties.  The transaction closed on March 1, 2015.

The purchase of the Progressive assets on Long Island creates a premier competitor in the non-hazardous solid waste industry on Long Island.  The company will centralize core corporate functions and standardize business practices, creating operating efficiencies and improving productivity, while decentralizing customer decisions so that we are more nimble and responsive to customers.  Winters Bros. will have a solid presence across Long Island with operations in Westbury, Hicksville, Glen Cove, Oyster Bay, West Babylon, Bohemia, Holtsville, Medford, Brookhaven and Yaphank.  The broad regional footprint of operations, combined with Winters Bros. innovative platforms for recycling, will benefit commercial, industrial, residential and municipal customers.
