Winter Soiree in Hingham to Benefit Local Charity
Online, January 4, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Children Without Borders, a Milton-based nonprofit that provides life saving medical care to children and health education for families in underserved countries, announced today its plans for a fundraising winter soiree. The event, hosted by friends and supporters of the charity, will be held at Black Rock Country Club in Hingham, Mass., on January 28, 2010. All proceeds will support the organization's mission of helping one child at a time.
"We are so appreciative of the amazing efforts of this local group who orchestrate fundraisers on our behalf and for all our supporters at the events," said Dr. George Whitelaw, founder and president of Children Without Borders. "I am overwhelmed by the kindness of attendees. Last year, the proceeds from events helped provide more than 10,000 doses of preventive medicine to children."
The event kickoff will be at 7 p.m. and features an open bar, appetizers and music. The end of the night will be celebrated with an auction. Some of the prizes include:
- Three dozen oysters from Island Creek Oysters
- A private dinner party catered by The Chef's Table
- A ski weekend for 12 at Mount Sunapee
- A week long vacation at a Costa Rican condo
- A diamond necklace valued at more than $1,000
"The south shore community really shows its character at the Children Without Borders events," said Megan Greenstein, executive director for Children Without Borders. "Not only do we have fun, but the spirit and generosity of our community really shines. Last year was a huge success for the charity in large part because of the popularity of these events. We look forward to another great year and to seeing friends and family at the events."
Tickets to the event cost $75 and are available for purchase at www.cwbfoundation.org or La Petite Maison in downtown Hingham, Mass. If purchased before January 15, 2010, the ticket price is only $60.
