An advocate for sourcing and buying locally, luxury catering business boss William Rini is always keen to champion what Ohio has to offer, especially in terms of food and drink.

A Northeast Ohio native and Strongsville resident, William Rini — who has spoken passionately about the importance of supporting local producers in the past — now reveals three of his favorite producers and brands from the Buckeye State.

"Whatever we can source locally, we use at A Taste of Excellence Catering," explains Rini, a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in the restaurant and catering industries.

The company serves Ohio Proud beef, Ohio City Pasta, Lucky Penny Farm products and Mitchell's Homemade Ice Cream, among other local produce and products.

Lucky Penny Farm, which operates out of Kent, Ohio, calls itself "a special place where art, agriculture, and family intersect."

A favored supplier of A Taste of Excellence Catering, the farm raises three breeds of dairy goat, makes artisan cheeses and produces a delicious caramel sauce.

Ohio City Pasta meanwhile produces fresh pasta, hand-crafted in Cleveland, Ohio. "Long before Cleveland became a culinary destination, we pioneered an uncompromising passion for excellent food. Made in small batches since 1990, our pasta is celebrated throughout the Midwest by top chefs and food-lovers alike," explains Gary Thomas, owner of the company.

Rini goes on to point out that, made from the highest-quality ingredients and using perfected techniques, Ohio City Pasta has earned its reputation as the pasta-maker of choice for the discerning professional. "As much as anything, it's about careful attention to detail in everything they do," adds Rini.

Of Mitchell's Homemade Ice Cream, the A Taste of Excellence Catering boss explains, "Each batch is hand-crafted in their Ohio City kitchen, using many ingredients which grow well in the Ohio climate, sourced from other local suppliers."

"We take pleasure and pride," adds Pete Mitchell, Mitchell's Homemade Ice Cream's vice president, "in contributing to our Northeast Ohio communities and the lives of our employees. As part of this, we take care to charge prices which are affordable to families and all of our neighbors."

Rini agrees. "Over 25 percent of Americans now prefer local brands and businesses to larger national or international alternatives," he explains, reflecting on a recent study carried out by Statista, the business intelligence and market research portal.

Of those polled by the organization and found to be in agreement with Rini's and Mitchell's approach toward local food, drink and community, an overwhelming majority suggested that local producers delivered both better quality and superior value for money, as well as a more positive overall buying experience.

"At A Taste of Excellence Catering, we're here to deliver the levels of quality and service highlighted in the Statista study," suggests Rini, wrapping up. "We're able to do this by dealing with local producers such as Ohio City Pasta, Lucky Penny Farm and Mitchell's Homemade Ice Cream, supporting the area and minimizing our carbon footprint in the process."
