White Former Football Player Releasing Book on Playing for a Black College

Chet Grimsley, a white athlete, pens his story of playing for a HBCU school in the 1970s. Chet's faith in God allowed him to succeed in tough situations throughout his life and provided him the attitude to excel in life, regardless the circumstances.

TooSmart! Publishing announces the release on February 7, 2011 of "The White Golden Bull: How Faith in God Transcended Racial Barriers" (ISBN: 9780979692857) authored by Chet Grimsley. The story is a first-hand account of life in the 1970s in Atlanta, GA, a time and place where racial pressures and uneasiness often existed in the South. A young white boy from Atlanta named Chet Grimsley decides to travel to Charlotte, NC, to accept a football scholarship to play for the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith (JCSU), a Historically Black University. His journals recall the inspiring, real life stories that reveals what Chet endured being a minority at JCSU and how his faith carried him though all the struggles and triumph.

Chet graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC where he pledged Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship, received the coveted All-CIAA Award for football excellence, earned the title of Mr. Football, was inducted into the JCSU Hall of Fame, and became President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Later, Chet graduated from the US ARMY Intelligence School and became a member of the JCSU 100 Club. Once a manager, coach, bodyguard, professional wrestler, and a player on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, today he lives with his wife, Donna, on Lake Nottley in Blairsville, GA. Chet still remains close with his former teammates and Groove brothers. He is a Christian, who hopes his story will help unite people of all origins to know the love of Jesus Christ.

From a historical aspect, Chet became the "first" in many diverse arenas, and by showing his faith in God, respect for others and teamwork, he overcame the racial boundaries and exposed the black and white truths that existed during these times. This is the inspiring and humbling, true life story of the lone "White Golden Bull".
