What Team Will Hire RGIII?

Now that former college football star Robert Griffin III is unlikely to play next season with the Washington Redskins, many football fans are wondering what colors is RGIII going to wear in 2016.

Once upon a time, Robert Griffin III was a highly-prized rookie that looked as worthy of being labeled as a ‘franchise quarterback’ as any first year signal-caller to come into the league in the last few decades. But following his rookie campaign, nothing has gone right for the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

In 2013, Griffin III began the season trying to bounce back from the torn ACL he suffered in the 2012 Wildcard Round. However, the former Baylor star struggled in his second season and was eventually benched for the final three games of the season.

Now that we know that RGII is never play quarterback in the nation's capitol, NFL fans everywhere want to know where RG3 will look to resurrect his career.

In 2014, RGIII was limited to seven starts and lost his starting job when he suffered a concussion in Washington’s second preseason game. Now that we know that RGII is never play quarterback in the nation’s capitol, NFL fans everywhere want to know where RG3 will look to resurrect his career. Griffin is technically under contract for $16.155 million in 2016 because the Redskins exercised a fifth-year option on him. The option year becomes fully guaranteed on the first day of the 2016 league year, which is March 9, so Griffin would definitely be out of Washington by then. The earliest the Redskins can part ways with the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner is Feb. 8, a day after Super Bowl 50. Now, let’s look at Griffin’s possible destinations and check the respective odds as provided by MyBookie.ag Sportsbook.

Houston Texans (+750)

Houston has gone 9-7 in each of Bill O’Brien’s two seasons, including a playoff appearance this postseason. Unfortunately, Brian Hoyer is not starting material, leaving O’Brien in desperate need of a more talented player. Now, O’Brien is widely-recognized as a great quarterback whisperer and could very well be the man to revive Griffin III career.

L.A Rams (+550)

The Rams signed former Eagles starter Nick Foles to a two-year, $24.5 million contract extension this past season but quickly found out that Foles is not the answer before benching him in favor of backup Case Keenum. Foles has a $6 million bonus due on March 11 that is already fully guaranteed, but it looks like the Rams are ready to move on and Griffin III could be the answer for a team in desperate need of a quality starter.

Dallas Cowboys (+325)

By landing with Dallas, Griffin III would be back in his home state where he’d join a Cowboys team that clearly needs a backup to oft-injured – and aging – starter Tony Romo who is under contract through 2019. Sure, RG3 would like a chance to start wherever he goes, but joining the Cowboys were Romo is almost a sure starter will put him in the same position he’s right now.

San Francisco 49ers (-150)

With Chip Kelly landing in Frisco, who knows what the Niners will do with their quarterback situation. Kelly could choose to revive the career of talented former starter Colin Kaepernick or he could choose to bring in fresh blood like Griffin III. Kelly loves mobile quarterbacks that can play in his up-tempo spread offense, which, by the way, is nearly to the system that Griffin III played in under Art Briles at Baylor.

Other Team -150

Griffin III is a -150 pick to sign with any other team not on the above list!

Both matchups promise plenty of excitement and betting opportunities, so let’s examine both contests and analyze some of the stats and possible scenarios surrounding these games.

NFC Championship:

Both the Cardinals and Panthers will do the impossible to get to their second Super Bowl in team history.  This will be a rematch of last year's wild-card meeting in Charlotte, which the Panthers won 27-16 against a depleted Cardinals squad that didn't count with Carlson Palmer. The matchup brings an interesting scenario for NFL betting fans. Both teams count with highly qualified defenses and a quarterback capable of leading their respective squads to victory.

The Panthers are coming off a 31-24 home win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, building up a huge first half lead and then holding on to cover the 2.5-point spread. The Cardinals got past the Green Bay Packers 26-20 at home in overtime in their Divisional Round contest on Saturday, failing to cover the 7-point spread.

Game Odds:
Carolina Panthers -3

AFC Championship:

On the other hand, veteran quaterbacks Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are back in the AFC Championship game that has become such familiar territory for both of them. The heated Manning-Brady rivalry has been a special one.  The two veterans have played each other sixteen times, including four times in the NFL Playoffs. Brady leads the head-to-head series 11-5, with the post season meetings being split 2-2.

Denver is currently listed as 3-point home underdog in the latest NFL odds. The Broncos faced the Pats on November 29, winning 30-24 as a 2.5-point home underdog. Manning was out in that game, with secondary QB Brock Osweiler throwing for 270 yards and a touchdown on the day.

The Broncos enter this game fresh from a 23-16 home win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on the Divisional Round, with Manning coming back to take the starting role after missing four games with a partially torn plantar fascia in his left heel.

The Patriots managed to both win and cover against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, grabbing the 27-20 victory as a 6-point home favorite on the betting lines. Brady threw for 302 yards and two touchdowns, with Rob Gronkowski catching two TD passes.

Game Odds:
New England Patriots -3.5
