WGA Awards - Inception & The Social Network. The Best?

Inception & The Social Network get the top awards from the Writers Guild awards

Hey, everyone!

The WGA awards are out, and not that big of a surprise. If you've seen either Inception or The Social Network you knew they were going to be the favorites. If they were in the same category, it would be an interesting race. Personally, I'd go with The Social Network just for the awesome dialogue. Read below:

The key winners of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) awards were 'Inception' - a science fiction thriller movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio, alongside 'The Social Network' - the movie about Facebook, the biggest social network worldwide.

Taking the WGA award for "Best Original Screenplay" was 'Inception', while 'The Social Network' scooped the WGA award for the "Best Adapted Screenplay".

The awards took a unique twist with two concurrent ceremonies being held in Los Angeles and New York as the winning nominations were announced.

One of the key losers was 'The King's Speech' which received 12 different nominations for the Oscars, but ironically failed to make the cut for the WGA shortlist due to issues with eligibility.

Christopher Nolan, the brains behind 'Inception', and the writer, producer and director of the sci-fi movie, referred to the award as an "incredible honor" upon receiving the award.

He further added that the award would have carried more significance had other screenplays been in the nominations shortlist-and though he did not mention 'The King's Speech'; it was assumed that that was his insinuation.

Nolan was also sure to reminisce of his "heartbreak", close to a decade ago, when the script for the movie 'Memento' fell short of the WGA requirements.

Aaron Sorkin, the scriptwriter for 'The Social Network' was proud of his good script but praised David Fincher, the director, for making a great movie.
