Wellbrooke of Westfield Expands Memory Care Services for Seniors and Caregivers

Neighborhood Specially Equipped for Those With Memory Loss

Wellbrooke of Westfield, a Trilogy Senior Living Community, is pleased to announce that it will be expanding its services with the addition of a Legacy Lane, a specialized memory care neighborhood on its campus grounds. Community members and members of the press are invited to attend a special Ribbon Cutting and Open House on Wednesday, April 24. The Ribbon Cutting will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., with the Open House to follow from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

For those with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, many things are uncertain. Simple moments that may have been taken for granted become both meaningful and comforting. Setting the table, and feeling the familiar shape of each plate and platter. Tending to the garden, and catching the scent of a rose. Reaching out for a hand, and finding that another’s is there to grasp. In Wellbrooke of Westfield’s new memory care neighborhood, staff members understand that each day is made up of these moments. That is why each moment and each person cared for on the Legacy Lane is treated with respect, patience, and understanding. Suites throughout the Legacy Lane ensure that residents are afforded both privacy and comfort, and special touches such as Memory Boxes transform past memories into ever-present, physical reminders of happy times and loved ones.

Caring for those with memory loss is both the purpose and the passion of every specially trained caregiver on the Legacy Lane. Staff members understand that every resident’s story is unique, and that every story matters. Care and activities are based on personal preferences and histories, and the Legacy Lane’s Daily Rhythms program provides a regular schedule that residents can rely on. Programs that take place throughout the day provide residents the chance to exercise their mind, share their passions, and relax in comfort. With less anxiety, better sleep, and decreased depression, it’s easier for Legacy Lane residents to experience days full of joy and fulfillment.

In addition to offering a wide range of senior health and hospitality services, Wellbrooke of Westfield offers support for caregivers and family members through programs such as their Family Forum and Caregiver’s Day Off. At Family Forum meetings, attendees receive education and support from healthcare professionals, as well as other caregivers. Quarterly Caregiver’s Day Off events provide caregivers with an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate, while complimentary Adult Day Services are provided for their loved one.
